Event Overview: Roots Cut Flower Farm, home of ASCFG Treasurer Michelle Elston, is a sustainable cut-flower farm in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, growing seasonal blooms for grocery bouquets, bulk “party buckets,” and subscription services. Roots specializes in the production and sale of field-grown hot annuals, with no heated greenhouse space. They produce nearly 30,000 supermarket bouquets annually on about six acres of land. This exciting farm tour will provide a thorough overview of the production systems currently in place at the farm, highlighting most productive and vigorous varieties. A lunchtime panel discussion presented by several regional farmers will discuss crew management and efficient task completion on teams.
