Ask an Expert: Pest Management for Cut Flower Farmers

November 10 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm EST

Cut flower farmers face unique pest pressures that can reduce yields, damage blooms, and limit marketability. This Ask an Expert session highlights the top three to five pests most commonly encountered in cut flower production—such as aphids, thrips, caterpillars, and spider mites—and explores effective strategies for monitoring, prevention, and management. Attendees will learn from Kristen Fowler of Koppert about integrated pest management (IPM) practices, including cultural controls, beneficial insects, and targeted treatments, to protect crop quality while supporting farm productivity. Lastly, Kristen will touch on plant diseases, since many pests vector them, but the primary focus of this webinar will be pests.

Kristen Fowler is the Technical IPM Consultant with Koppert-U.S. for the Mid-Atlantic Region. Prior to this role, she has worked in the green industry for over two decades and has degrees in biology and ornamental horticulture.

Sponsored by: SunflowerSelections.com and Koppert.

Zoom instructions will be emailed to members on the day of the event. All Ask an Expert webinars are recorded.
