Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers, Inc. FOR GENERAL RELEASE 2010Oberlin, Ohio
The Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers (ASCFG) was formed in 1988 by Allan Armitage and Judy Laushman at the University of Georgia, in response to the need for uniting and educating field and greenhouse cut flower growers.The ASCFG provides an identity to the specialty cut flower industry.
It currently has 600 members in 47 states, 6 Canadian provinces, South America, New Zealand, Australia and Great Britain.
The Cut Flower Quarterly is one of the most highly regarded publications in the floral industry.Its “New Varieties” (January) and “Postharvest”(July) issues are packed with information not find in other floral publications.ASCFG members read the Quarterly as soon as it arrives in their mailboxes.
The 2010 National Conference and Trade Show is scheduled for November 8-11 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The popular Growers’ School, for new or beginning cut flower growers, will be held on Monday, November 8. Informative educational sessions, with topics on greenhouse and hoophouse production, season extension, marketing, pest and disease management, and much more are scheduled for Tuesday through Thursday.
Members are listed in the Buyers’ Guide, which is distributed to thousands of wholesale and retail buyers, florist and event planners across the country.The guide is an invaluable tool for buyers looking for unique and high quality floral material.
The ASCFG Bulletin Board is a form of electronic communication that some members consider their favorite member service. The ability to exchange information and experiences on cut flower production and marketing has brought members across the country together like no other process can.Searchable archives enable users to look up past conversations and contribute later.
“Short Cuts” is a online newsletter that keeps members up to date on regional or national events, breaking news or industry developments.
